BioTrace and Sewage... they go together so well.
Did a post-sewage assessment last week in Pittsburg, California. It seems that some city workers who were servicing the system put too much pressure on the line. This caused a serious back flow into a the building. ServPro of Amador & Calaveras Counties did the clean-up and I used BioTrace to verify that the surfaces were cleaned adequately. BioTrace measures the light that is given off during a chemical reaction with Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP), which is a molecule found in all living cells. For food service and medical facilities, a reading of less than 500 Relative Light Units (RLU's) is considered clean. After a sewage back flow it is very difficult to clean a surface to these standards. On this particular building I took 8 surface samples from tile floors in the bathroom, the concrete slab under the carpet (carpet was removed), and on the framing (drywall was removed). The sample results ranged from the mid 300 RLU's down to 29 RLU's. That is almost sterile! In the 10 years I have been doing this, that is the best sewage clean-up I have seen. Great job ServPro!
